FIRST IN COUNTY AWARDED LEED CERTIFICATION
Dr. Kendalyn Lutz-Craver's Cornerstone Dental Associates became the first, and only, structure in Cleveland County to be awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver Certification by the United States Green Building Council. Dr. Kendalyn Lutz-Craver is a 1996 graduate of Shelby High School. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill in 1999. Dr. Lutz-Craver completed her Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2003 also at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. She is an active member within Cleveland County Chamber of Commerce, Shelby Breakfast Rotary Club, Cleveland County Board of Health, Isothermal Dental Society, NCDS (North Carolina Dental Society), ADA (American Dental Association), AGD (Academy of General Dentistry), and The Pankey Institute.
Dr. Lutz-Craver believes that creating a structure to LEED specifications goes hand in hand with an improved quality of life; providing a comfortable, eco-friendly setting for patients, a positive workplace for employees and an educational tool for the community. Dr. Lutz-Craver hopes that the tools she has enforced will help spur an awareness of the significance of thinking, and behaving with an environmental conscience. She states "The things that are standard are expected." Lutz-Craver has made it her mission to think about basic green initiatives, such as curbside recycling.
